A reckoning with the Lie
The Fire.
I did not become a voice to talk about women. I became one because the whole West is being talked out of itself - and almost no one with anything to lose will say so out loud.
There is a lie running through the West right now, and it is winning - because we were trained to mistake it for kindness.
For years my fight looked like it was about women. The body, the fire, the wild thing the culture keeps trying to tame out of us. It was real, and I meant every word of it. But I followed it all the way down to the root, the way I follow everything down, and the root was far bigger than women. What is being done to the woman is being done to the man, to the family, to the culture, and to the faith underneath all of it. I was describing one symptom of something civilisational. Now I am naming the thing itself.
We are living inside an inversion. Up has been turned into down on purpose, and we were applauded for not noticing. Virtue is now called toxic. Discipline is called cruelty. Strength is called oppression. The victim is crowned, and the one who endures without complaint is treated as suspect. Even the words have been turned inside out, so that the people pulling a civilisation down can call it justice, and the people defending it can be filed away as the threat. This is not drift. It is a lie with a direction - and a frightened, medicated, endlessly managed people is exactly what it is built to produce, because a people like that will accept anything.
"They called virtue toxic and crowned the victim. That is the whole trick."
Look at what moves in while we look away. Technocracy, deciding what is true on our behalf. A managerial state that answers every part of life with another rule, another form, another permission to be asked for. Surveillance and regulation handed to us as safety, until there is no room left in which to simply be a free adult. A whole machinery engineered toward the rootless and the interchangeable - because rootless, interchangeable people are the only kind it knows how to govern.
Start with what they have done to men and women, because it is the clearest tell. We walked, eyes open, into a gender war nobody sane asked for. The man is declared toxic by default - his strength a problem to be corrected, his nature an apology waiting to be made. The woman is handed privileges to "balance out patriarchal structures," as if she were too weak to stand without a thumb pressed on the scale for her - which is the most insulting thing you can tell a woman, and they call it respect. And underneath the whole circus runs the real ambition: to dissolve the category of sex itself, to file men and women down until there is no difference left to speak of. They sell it as equality. It is not equality. It is the abolition of the very thing that makes us human, and polar, and alive to each other. Difference is where desire lives. Difference is where the complement lives. Flatten it and you do not get fairness; you get an interchangeable, anxious, dependent population that can be moved like furniture.
"A people made interchangeable is a people easy to manage."
And watch who marches together once you can see it. A left that has gone genuinely sick - captured by intersectionality, fluent in the inversion of every word, convinced that tearing the West down is the same act as setting it free. It has taken up arms beside political Islam, and it cannot see, or will not, that the two of them are mortal enemies at opposite ends of a single spectrum. Islam, carried to its end, is the negation of every freedom that left swears it would die for - the woman, the dissenter, the unbeliever, all of it. They are not allies in any honest sense. They are joined by one appetite alone: the demolition of the Western foundation and the hierarchy of values it stands on. The anti-capitalist and the Islamist, the revolutionary and the zealot, end up planted on the exact same ground - two forces that should be at each other's throats, gripping the same wrecking bar, swinging at the same wall. And Islam does not even need to win an argument to gain. It only has to keep walking into the vacuum we dug ourselves the day we decided our own civilisation was something to apologise for.
"Two forces that should be at each other's throats, gripping the same wrecking bar."
You can read the cost in the bodies and the minds, which is where I have always read everything. Mental illness climbing in a straight line, year after year. Obesity and lifestyle disease sliding from exception to expectation. We did not arrive here by accident. We arrived by worshipping the victim and calling every demand for discipline an act of violence. Tell a people long enough that virtue is oppression and effort is privilege, and eventually they lie down. The body keeps the score. So does the soul. Neither one is fooled by the language we dress it in.
But strip all of it back and you reach the real theft, the one underneath every other one. We were led away from God. Take the faith out of a civilisation and you do not get a neutral, rational, freer people - you get a hollow one, and a hollow people will reach for anything to fill the silence and fear everything that asks something of them. The West is not a blank marketplace that happened to keep a few churches. It is a Christian civilisation that has been talked out of its own soul, and is now astonished to find it can no longer remember why anything matters. I wear the cross as the answer, not as the ornament.
"Strip a civilisation of its God and it will accept anything."
So I stand in the open and I say it, because I am not for sale and there is very little left to frighten me with. I have already been to the floor and climbed back up under my own power; you cannot threaten a woman with a fall she has already survived. I am not here to win the argument or convert the hostile. I am a tuning fork. I ring the note - and the note now is far bigger than one woman's fire. It is the memory of what we are. The ones who still have it in them feel it land in their own chest and come looking for the source. I do not chase reach. I optimise for the moment a person remembers who they were built to be.
None of this is free. You do not say these things - about the inversion, about the gender war, about a sick left marching arm in arm with political Islam, about a civilisation that needs its faith back - without the attacks arriving, every week, with all the usual names attached. I read them. Some of them land. And then I go first anyway, and take the hit, so that the ones standing behind me who can feel the truth but have not yet found the nerve to say it can walk through the gap with their skin intact. The fire was never meant to burn anyone down. It is meant to light the way back, and to make a door where they built a wall.
"The way home is the way forward."
So this is the fire, and I am done being quiet about it. Not a women's movement and not a men's movement - a reckoning with the Lie, and a remembering of what we are: as women, as men, as a culture, and as a faith we were talked out of and can still take back. The road home and the road forward were never two roads. If something in you recognised the note before you reached the end of this page, you already know. Daughter of the West. Christian, free, and unwilling to be managed into silence. Come and remember. The fire does not burn the ones it was lit for. It wakes them.
