Hey guys. Fall has arrived in Denmark. Thankfully it is still mild, and today is Sunday with the sun high in the sky. We need the light... God created us as light. Man is LIGHT.
I keep coming back to this, because I believe it explains more about our time than any headline does. Light and darkness are not just poetic words. They describe what happens inside a person, and then what happens between people.
God also gave us free will. The right to choose. It is the greatest gift we have, and the most dangerous one, because a gift you can accept is a gift you can refuse. Many have refused it. They turned their own light off, quietly, one compromise at a time, and let the darkness in.
Look at what that does to a person. Direction goes first. Then peace. A dark inner room cannot tell what is true, so it follows whatever is loudest. Fear moves in. Bitterness moves in. Anger moves in. And here is the part we rarely admit…every one of them was let in. Each time we chose comfort over truth, we handed over a little more of the wheel. Nobody takes your light from you. You hand it over, one decision at a time.
Now zoom out. A civilization is nothing but people standing next to each other. When enough of them have switched off their light, it shows everywhere. Truth becomes negotiable. Courage becomes rare. Nobody can explain what we are built on anymore, and the foundation gets replaced by whatever fills the vacuum. That is the moment we are living in.
But here is what I know. Nothing is final. No one is too far gone, and no culture is beyond return….yet. The light does not have to be rebuilt. It has always been there, and you can choose it today. The moment you do, it begins to dominate, because darkness has no force of its own. It is only the absence of light.
So choose it. Again tomorrow. And the day after.
