Since 2017 Nike has been selling the hijab as sportswear. Breathable. Lightweight. Engineered for performance. Engineered, in other words, to make the covering of a woman's hair easier to sustain.
Nine years. Two product generations. It is still on their website today, described in their own words as designed to fully cover your head and neck.
There is no neutral version of this. The garment exists for one reason: a rule that says a woman's body must be hidden or she is at fault. Nike did not question that rule. Nike found a market in it.
Five years into selling it, Mahsa Amini died in custody in Tehran for wearing her headscarf wrong. Iranian women burned theirs in the street. Nike kept the product line. Kept the swoosh on it. Kept calling it empowerment.
It's supposed to be about 'inclusion', but instead it's all about obtaining oppression.
They have had nine years to understand what they are selling. They sell it anyway.
Hypocrites!
