Every time some conspiratorial soul claims the Holocaust never happened, or that the losses were a few hundred thousand, remember what the Germans wrote down themselves.
The Holocaust is one of the best documented genocides in history.
Not because the Jews needed to prove it. Because the Germans proved it themselves. One of the most orderly and meticulous peoples in Europe went to work systematically.
And they wrote it down. Deportation lists. Transport schedules. Internal reports. Accounts of how many, from where, to where. The Wannsee Conference, where the extermination was planned on paper. The Korherr Report, which tallied the number killed. The Einsatzgruppen filing their own reports on mass executions behind the eastern front.
There is no single document listing every murdered person. But there are hundreds of thousands of pages of Nazi German bookkeeping that together draw the picture. Add the censuses from before and after the war, and the result comes out the same every time: around six million.
Yad Vashem has so far put a name to nearly five million of them. One by one. Not a number. People.
So no, it is not up for debate. It was documented by the murderers themselves, in their own handwriting, with their own care.
Whoever denies it is not denying the Jews. He is denying the Germans’ own archive.
