THE CHOSEN ONES
The Jews are called the chosen people. Many hear that as a hierarchy, as if the rest of us matter less. It doesn't mean that. Being chosen for a task doesn't make anyone else less valuable or less important. You and I are just as loved and just as seen.
But let's be honest about what the task was. It was the Jews who carried the belief in one God into a world full of gods. They received the law, the prophets and the Scriptures. Jesus was a Jew. His disciples were Jews.
Without that people there would be no Christianity, and without Christianity Western civilization would never have been built. The idea that every human being has worth because he is made in the image of God comes from there. So does the idea of a law above the king.
Israel is that root. When someone tries to tear it up, they are digging under their own foundation.
Cut the root, and the tree dies.
I am a Christian... I don't love the Jews any less because they believe differently. Just like I don't love Hindus any less.
I kneel before the God who called them, and I thank Him every day that they carried the message all the way to me.
God chose one people so that He could reach all of us.❤️🔥✝️
