The conservative establishment will be the undoing of the West. Conservatives and classical liberals alike, in country after country.
They have held power for decades and spent it on being liked. Not on protecting anything. On being liked.
Every time the choice came down to the truth or the dinner invitation, they took the invitation. Every single time. That is character, and it has been calling itself moderation for thirty years.
Now they smear Trump and his people. Not because he is wrong. Because he is doing what they promised and never dared touch.
Lapdogs. Well groomed, house trained and completely harmless to the people tearing the foundation down around us.
They think they are defending decency. They are defending their reputation. It is going to cost us everything.
A conservative who spends his time distancing himself from the people fighting, while he keeps quiet about the people destroying, is not a conservative. He is a guard dog barking at the family while the door stands open.
So they lose. Every time. They took over their opponent's language and their opponent's morality, and the fight was settled before it started. All that is left is losing slowly with a straight back.
No civilization was ever saved by good manners. It gets saved by people who say it while it still matters, and pay for it afterward without complaining.
That is why the hatred of Trump runs so hysterical. He does not ask permission. He clears house in front of a class that has never been contradicted, and they cannot stand the sight of it.
The whining is the sound of power slipping out of their hands.
We do not need more respectable ones. We need the ones who can stand alone with the whole room against them.
Lapdogs do not bite. They sit in the lap until the last day.
