THE KING OF ENGLAND ADDRESSED CONGRESS YESTERDAY.
The same king who has never made Easter a priority - and not in 2026 either - but opens every Ramadan with “As-salaamu alaikum” to British Muslims.
The same king who for the first time in Windsor Castle’s 1,000-year history opened its doors to Muslims breaking their Ramadan fast - while the Supreme Governor of the Church of England had nothing to say on the holiest day of the Christian calendar.
The same king who in his 2025 Easter message described Christ’s love as “a deep human instinct echoed in Islam” - on Good Friday.
The same king who in 2006, after the Muhammad cartoon crisis led to riots and at least 200 deaths - defended the rioters. “The danger comes of our failure to listen and to respect what is precious and sacred to others,” he said.
Not a word about freedom of speech. Not a word about the dead.
The same king who allegedly refused to defend his own subject Salman Rushdie when Khomeini issued a fatwa against him in 1989 - saying he would not offer support “if someone insults someone else’s deepest convictions.”
The same king who has been patron of the Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies since 1993 - with an entire wing named after him - and who as recently as July 2025 said that understanding the Muslim world is “more imperative than ever.”
The same king who publicly called criticism of Islamic societies’ treatment of women “a Western prejudice.”
The same king who holds the title Fidei Defensor. Defender of the Faith.
A title given to the English monarch to protect and defend Christianity.
He stood before Congress and said - without irony - that “interfaith tolerance” must be defended.
From him, that line deserves a closer look.
For in Britain today - where a minority (for now) of the population identifies as Muslim compared to nearly 50% Christian - it is Christianity that takes a backseat. And it is the king himself who has made that choice.
A man who swore at his coronation to defend the Christian faith.
And who has spent decades defending everything but.❤️🔥✝️🪽
