The UN walkout on Israel was staged. And you fell for it.
There's an old rule in propaganda: Give people an image, and they stop thinking for themselves.
Last Thursday it worked again.
Netanyahu was set to speak at the UN General Assembly. When his name was called, delegations left the hall in large groups, and what remained was one man facing a room full of gaps. The clip was out before he opened his mouth. Israel isolated. The world has spoken.
What the clip didn't show was the prep work.
The Palestinians had written to UN member states in advance, asking them to show up with their entire staff and leave together on cue. Six people from one country look like a lot when they all stand up at the same time. The hall was packed so it could be cleared. That's stage direction. Pure and simple.
I have nothing against protest. Plenty of countries protested, and they did it deliberately. Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Brazil, Spain, South Africa, Egypt and Indonesia were among the 70-77 delegations that either walked out or stayed away. That shouldn't be downplayed.
But here's the part nobody showed you.
Most of them stayed. Roughly 120 out of 193 countries didn't move an inch. The Americans were there. The British, the French, the Germans and the Chinese were there. The Emirates and Bahrain, both with peace agreements with Israel, were there too.
The majority of the planet was in the room. And you were told the room was empty.
That's how it works. A feeling moves faster than a fact. Once you've seen something with your own eyes, it takes a lot before you'll believe you saw it wrong. The people who stage these things know that, and they build the whole strategy on it.
And it works because far too many have gotten used to having their thinking delivered pre-chewed. You get angry and hit share. You never get around to the questions.
