THE WAY HOME
When people talk about what it will take to put the Western world back on course and stop the decline we are watching unfold, there are plenty of answers. Protests. Petitions. Political movements. Activism.
I am absolutely in favor of using every peaceful tool we have to wake people up.
But.
I do not believe we can repair Western civilization with political tools alone.
Politics can change laws. It can secure borders. It can punish crime.
But politics cannot tell a human being why he should do the right thing when no one is watching.
That requires a moral foundation.
And the only thing that can truly lead Western civilization home is the same thing that helped build it in the first place.
God.
And before everyone starts shouting that religion is the root of all evil, understand what I am actually saying.
Religion and faith are not the same thing.
Religion is structure. Built by human beings, administered by human beings, and therefore corruptible by human beings. For control. For power. For war.
History is full of examples, and I have no interest in pretending otherwise.
But when human beings take the name of God and use it to justify their own hunger for power, what you are witnessing is not faith.
It is power that found itself a language.
Faith is something else. Faith is relationship.
No one can believe for you. No politician can write it into a party platform.
It exists between you and God.
We cannot pull God off the shelf because the West is in trouble.
The moment we turn to God because He is useful to our political project, it is no longer God we are kneeling before. We are still kneeling before the outcome.
God is not a tool for saving the West.
The West needs God because human beings need God.
Western civilization was built on a Judeo-Christian foundation. At the heart of it was a radical idea.
The human being is made in the image of God.
Your value does not come from a king. It does not come from the state. It does not come from the majority.
And if the state did not give you your worth, the state does not own it.
From that moral soil grew everything we call Western. Human dignity. The individual conscience. Equality before the law. Limits on political power. Rights that government cannot erase the moment you become inconvenient.
Did the West always live up to it? Absolutely not.
But the standard existed. Something stood above man. Above the state.
Then, little by little, we removed God from the equation and assumed the house would keep standing on its own.
We wanted the fruit while cutting down the tree.
We still use the words. Dignity. Freedom. Truth. Rights.
But what grounds those words if man himself is the highest authority?
If your rights exist only because men granted them, men can take them away.
What man gives, man can revoke.
You can win an election and still lose a civilization.
Politics is downstream from culture. And culture is downstream from what people believe.
The deepest crisis facing the West is not economic, demographic or political. It is spiritual.
We started believing freedom was our natural condition. That our children would inherit it simply because we did.
They will not.
So protest. Vote. Organize. Speak. Defend your borders. Do all of it.
But you cannot legislate a people into having character. You cannot protest a people into having a conscience. And you cannot organize your way out of a spiritual crisis.
It begins somewhere else. With the individual.
When we stop asking what God can do for the civilization we want to save, and start asking what God requires of me.
It begins with one person. And then another.
The West does not need another ideology to find its way home. We need to remember what we walked away from.
The road home leads through the same door we walked out of.
And that door is still open.
In the beginning God. In the end God. Alpha and Omega.
