Krisztina Speaks. Copenhagen.

These are my husband’s Thomas Finn words and update, which I have translated for you.👇🏽

Tomorrow, Krisztina will stand on a stage in the heart of Copenhagen and speak about FREEDOM.

She does it in English, so the words can travel - home to the Persians and Iranians who are waiting for it, and out to the European politicians who since 1979 have taught themselves to look the other way, every time the question of what an Islamist regime actually does to a people was asked too close.

This is a peaceful demonstration for a FREE IRAN.

It is also, if you dare think it through, a demonstration against everything we ourselves are beginning to forget.

Most of those coming tomorrow have fled the regime they are marching against. They know what freedom is worth, because they have lived without it.

Their flag is not the regime’s flag. It is the old one - the lion and the sun - the symbol of an IRAN that existed before the revolution, and that still waits beneath the surface in every family that remembers how it once was.

We meet at Christiansborg Slotsplads, and we walk from there with words and flags. Exactly the privilege that does not exist in Tehran.

This is not a small thing.

It is the entire difference.

Between unfreedom and freedom.

Freedom and Peace are connected, but not in the way our time has taught us. Peace is not the absence of conflict. Peace is the space where a human being can live without a mullah, a party official or a morality police deciding what you may say, what your daughter may wear, what your child may read.

That space we call Freedom. When it is there, Peace becomes possible. When it disappears, something called “calm” arrives - which is most often created through control, surveillance, threats and demands to fall in line - do as you are told - but it is not the same thing.

Krisztina has said she will do her best - including not to become too emotional - while she speaks. I understand that well, now that I have experienced it a few times and many have written moving words and memories to me.

It is hard to stand before people who have lost everything we walk around taking for granted, and keep your voice steady.

But she does it. And I walk with her.

UNITED FOR FREEDOM - RALLY FOR A FREE IRAN
Saturday the 9th of May, 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM
Christiansborg Slotsplads / Nytorv, Copenhagen

Come by if you can.

Be reminded of what is at stake.
What the Persians lost in 1979, we still have.
For now.

And as a sidenote, if it means anything to you - Since the Persians are grateful for both the US and Israel’s efforts in the preceding months, many will be flying their flags.

This has prevented several politicians from attending and speaking.

We must understand that Freedom is perhaps worth something. But apparently not worth enough to stand together with our oldest and closest allies - and those who created the entire foundation beneath the faith Christianity - upon which our societies are built.

It might cost votes, after all.
