ASCENSION DAY - KRISTI HIMMELFARTSDAG🪽✝️
Today more than 50 countries around the world celebrate this day. Or many probably just take the day off without thinking any deeper about it.
A day that marks that Jesus - after 40 days with his disciples following the resurrection - returned to the Father.
Before he left he said two things.
I will send you the Holy Spirit. And - go out into the whole world and tell. Not just those who already believe. Everyone.
And that is precisely what makes this day so important in the time we are living in now.
Because we live in a time that does everything to silence Christianity. That wraps faith up as something embarrassing and old-fashioned. That attacks churches - literally and culturally. That tries to replace the sacred with the secular - God with the state - truth with narrative.
And at the same time - while the West mocks its own faith - Christians are the most persecuted religious group in the world. Over 365 million Christians live under high levels of persecution.
Every single day Christians are killed for their faith - in Nigeria, in North Korea, in Iran, in China, in Pakistan. Churches are burned down. Bibles are confiscated. Families are torn apart. And the world stays silent.
Not because it is not happening.
But because the victims are Christians.
And in the middle of all that - more than 50 countries celebrate a day that reminds us where we come from.
Not from nothing and not from a random evolutionary process without meaning or direction.
From Him!
From a civilisation that was built on the foundation that every single human being has an inherent dignity - not because the state said so - but because God created it.
This is not nostalgia. Just as it is not religion for religion’s sake.
It is the very foundation of everything we are in the process of losing - and everything we are fighting to preserve.
Freedom. Truth. Dignity. Justice. Love.
It did not come from nowhere.
It came from Him who went home on this very day 2,000 years ago.
And who promised that He would never leave us.
That promise holds. Now - and forever.❤️🔥✝️🪽
