IF YOU’RE GOING TO GO AFTER TRUMP OVER GAS PRICES, GET THE NUMBERS RIGHT.
Here’s what Americans paid for regular gasoline, on average:
FIRST YEAR IN OFFICE: *Biden, 2021: $3.01 per gallon *Trump, 2025: $3.10 per gallon
Biden’s first year was slightly cheaper.
SECOND YEAR IN OFFICE: *Biden, 2022: $3.95 per gallon *Trump, 2026 so far: $3.87 per gallon
Trump’s second year is currently averaging about 2% less than Biden’s second year did.
Yes, 2022 is a full year, while the 2026 average runs through November 2. That comparison is provisional. I’m putting that right here so nobody has to pretend I hid it.
Complain about gas prices. Nobody enjoys paying more at the pump. But if you’re using those prices to go after Trump, at least acknowledge what Americans paid under Biden.
You don’t get to leave out the numbers that don’t suit your argument.
