Lars Hedegaard is today 84 years old. He is one of the heroes of our time. For over 20 years he has fought Islam with his writing, books and speeches, and in 2004 he founded the Free Press Society. He holds a master's degree in history and literature from the University of Copenhagen in Denmark, and has worked as a journalist and author. In 2013 he survived an assassination attempt because of his criticism of Islam. A man posing as a mail carrier shot at him at point-blank range. He lived, and he kept fighting.
He writes so extremely well about what is going on. In Danish. I have translated this one. Because it is the truth. Because it concerns us all and what we are up against. And we should be concerned. Politics Was Something We Used to Have
For inexplicable reasons, the overwhelming majority of Scandinavians and most other Europeans regard America's Democrats as the nice ones, the civilized, the kind-hearted, and the peace-loving, as opposed to the Republicans, who are portrayed in the media as vile, far-right, racist, semi-fascist, and warmongering.
So there can be no doubt about whom Europeans should side with and cheer for, and counter-notions get no room in the state-loyal media. They thrive in alternative online media, whose stories are never reported by DR (Denmark's public broadcaster, short for Danmarks Radio). It was once called Statsradiofonien (the State Radio). They should have kept that name, because DR is the deep state's industrious servant.
The journalists are free to criticize politicians, political parties, influencers, bishops, and parish clerks, but the power structure itself they will not touch.
That is why Danes and other Europeans find it natural to sympathize with another statist (state-enthused) movement on the other side of the Atlantic, in the form of the Democratic Party. The Democrats are the sweet ones, and the Republicans are the nasty ones. That is all you need to know to understand American politics.
I am therefore sorry to have to refer to a couple of recent opinion polls of Democratic voters. One was conducted this September by a group calling itself the Center for Strategic Politics, and its results are enough to cause sleepless nights.
Among Democratic voters, 87 percent would view it positively if Trump were convicted in an impeachment trial and removed from the presidency. A majority of 59 percent would welcome a military coup against Trump. A full 29 percent would be glad if the president were murdered.
Whatever one may say about "moderate" Democrats (of whom there are very few), it is clear that the party as such has been radicalized in no time, and that most of its voters are ready to discard democracy, as long as they can get rid of the object of their hatred.
But where does this anti-democratic leftward slide come from?
The short answer is: from the universities, where the professors, instead of giving students knowledge, have filled them with the ideology that everything in history and society can be explained by the dichotomy of oppressors versus oppressed. Who the oppressors and the oppressed are may shift depending on circumstances, but they will always exist, and they will always be the political compass.
Attending an American university is the same as letting radical professors brainwash you, and according to another opinion poll among American university students, the results have not failed to appear: When confronted with a speaker whose views one does not share, 69 percent believe one is entitled to drown him out by shouting. A considerable share of the students, namely 34 percent, find it acceptable to resort to violence to stop a political opponent from speaking.
What we are witnessing is the death of politics in the traditional sense.
Once, the political process meant accepting your opponent's right to speak and trying to counter him with arguments.
But that was then. We now live in the reality that the left is without arguments, but all the more determined to hold on to power.
At any price and by any means.
