Macklemore is giving a million dollars to Palestine. It looks like compassion. Then look at where the money lands.
Part of it goes to UNRWA through UNRWA USA. That is the UN agency whose own 2024 investigation concluded that nine staff members may have taken part in the October 7 massacre. It is also the agency where Israeli forces found a Hamas data center in the tunnels directly beneath its Gaza City headquarters. The US cut funding. Israel banned the agency. Macklemore is sending money.
Another part goes to PCRF. In 2004, the Holy Land Foundation tried to donate $50,000 to them. The Holy Land Foundation was shut down by the US government, and its leaders were convicted in 2008 of financing Hamas. The trial showed it was part of the Muslim Brotherhood's network in America.
Wanting to help children in Gaza is understandable. But when you are a famous artists in the world, you have a responsibility to know who you are sending millions to. Every dollar that flows through structures Hamas has infiltrated can end up in tunnels instead of hospitals.
Compassion requires judgment. Macklemore has shown he lacks it.
